HISTORY

1924
  • Company established in Sendai by Shigetoshi Motoyama named Motoyama Shoukai. While engaged in the plumbing design of heating, cooling, and air-conditioning systems, initiated research into the manufacture of metallic bellows under the guidance of Dr. K.Honda (Metallic Materials Laboratory, Tohoku University)
1928
  • Completed Japan's first metallic bellows and developed components for application, such as steam traps and pressure reducing valves.
1938

Old Plant(Kita-Sendai)

  • Constructed head office and plant at Kita-Sendai. Reorganized as MOTOYAMA ENG. WORKS, LTD.
1940
  • Received an industrial research grant from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and commercialized a direct-reading type depth sounder.
1950
  • Began manufacturing pneumatic control valves.
1952
  • Obtained the Japan Industrial Standard display license for vane safety valve (JISB8210), for industrial-use steam boilers.
1958
  • Supplied non-leakage valves to the atomic energy research institute as a registered manufacturer.
1968
  • Obtained the Japan Industrial Standard license for steam trap (JISB8402) for heaters.
1969
  • Authorized to test and manufacture high-pressure equipment by MITI.
1973
  • Provided the Canadian company W.G.Eliot Co., with pneumatic control valve technology.
  • Concluded a licensing agreement with the Crosby Valve and Gage Co., of the U.S. for safety valves and safety relief valves.
1978
  • Qualified by Lloyd's Resister of Shipping for diaphragm actuator No.2800.
  • Completed the Ohhira test and Experiment Center and initiated full-scale operations.
  • Obtained model approval from the Japan Water Works Association for the "Shock-Non®" water hammer absorber.
  • Marketed the MOTOSEAL® general-purpose leak-tight butterfly valve.
  • Marketed the EXCENTRO® wide-range Butterfly valve mainly for high-temperature use in iron and steel plants.

  • Obtains technical guidance at Tohoku University, receives grant from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s important technology research and development subsidy, and completes development of the Ultra Clean Valve (UCV) for the semiconductor manufacturing gas process, and puts it on sale.
